Shenao Elephant Trunk Rock

Couples in search of a romantic, scenic spot should visit the aptly-named elephant trunk rock. Located in a secluded location near Shenao Fishing Port, the rock is located behind the more famous Shenao Harbour Chief Cliff.
As the name suggests, the rock formation, which lies majestically in the sea, resembles the side profile of an elephant, with its trunk trailing into turquoise waters.
Climb up onto the elephant’s head and watch the sunset on the horizon in this stunning seaside setting.
High Heel Church

Whether you’re a culture buff or get bored when you visit temples and churches on holiday, you won’t want to miss the High Heel Wedding Church.
The bizarre church was built in the shape of Cinderella’s glass slipper and is also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s biggest high heel shaped structure.
The church is a popular wedding location for Taiwanese couples and is famous for its stereotypically girly decorative features, like love seats, cakes, and biscuits. This has made it a hit with the local ladies.
Dingshan Shell Temple

Here is yet another religious building that is more reminiscent of a theme park than a place of worship.
Dingshan Shell Temple, where the deity Ji Gong is worshipped, is completely covered in seashells and corals and took two years to construct.
The intricate details that are typical of Chinese temples take on a textured, otherworldly appearance as they are constructed entirely with shells of all shapes, sizes, and colors.
The temple, which is located on Sanzhi Hill, gives you the impression that you’ve entered an underwater kingdom, whether you’re exploring coral-lined tunnels or marveling at shell-covered statues of beasts and deities.
Rainbow Village

It sounds like a hippie’s dream come true.
This little village in Taichung began life as a veteran village, hastily constructed to provide a home for Kuomintang soldiers fleeing from Mainland China.
It was later transformed into a psychedelic wonderland by one of its last residents, who single-handedly covered buildings and structures in the village in bright colors and vibrant images.
Today, the village is a popular place to take selfies against a backdrop of childlike patterns and a whirl of color. It is also popular with kids, who love the fairytale-like surroundings.
Houtong Cat Village
Address: 70 Chailiao Road, Ruifang District, New Taipei City
Imagine a village that’s overrun with cats, all clamoring for a cuddle. Animal lovers and children can enjoy just that at Houtong Cat Village, which is famous for being home to lots and lots of cats.
The population of this former mining village dwindled after the mines in the vicinity closed, and the remaining villagers took it upon themselves to care for the stray cats. In the late 2000s, there was a boom in the number of volunteers caring for the felines.
The cats have become a major attraction in the village, which is visited by those who hope to bask in the company of the feline population, which is now over 200-strong.
